work out a larger number of different themes thoroughly. But it is also
less than the collection, because sometimes in the end the essence is lost.
In fact it seems to me that at such an occasion the public is not really
interested in the essentials. It is more likely to have come for the kick.
You often hear the comment - and I sometimes find it quite a discriminating
reaction - 'It was pretty dull. It was just people jumping up and down.'
The thing is that the audience expects something more than the clothes,
it wants a bit of spectacle. But if the theatrical side is used to make
up for a lack of content, then I think things have gone wrong. A show might
for example be helped by putting all sorts of stars on the catwalk. But
then everybody looks at the stars, not at the clothes..." |
