| 16/09/2011 De Standaard has built a real tradition in giving talented artists the opportunity to head the paper for one day. Previously, artists Luc Tuymans (2007) and Jan Fabre (2008) and photographer Carl De Keyzer (2009) helped shape Belgian's leading quality newspaper. Why did De Standaard invite Walter Van Beirendonck this year? Because he is at the top in his field. And because De Standaard considers it an exciting challenge to let someone who is primarily concerned with the visual aspects of a product take charge of our paper.
