2357

1st art installation by Walter Van Beirendonck at Galerie Polaris, Paris.
10 January 2009 - 21 February 2009

‘In 2357, 300 years after the death of Walter Van Beirendonck in 2057,’aliens’ discover his tomb’.
This installation plays with the idea of ‘past-future’, rituals and the Walter-icon.
The exhibition in gallery Polaris shows the found artifacts discovered in the tomb :

  • Tube-clothes from Walter’s guardians-referring to the upcoming collection ‘Glow’
  • The Walter-sarcophagus
  • The content of the sarcophagus:
      * Transparant Blow-Up-Walter-figure
      * Walter’s lycra-‘skin’/printed with all names off his collections
      * A ‘sampler-embroidered-blanket’-with unexpected Walter profile
      * 40 embroidered flags referring to all Walter Van Beirendonck collections
  • The soundtrack of the installation are the ‘Fuckbuttons’
